“How much can you bench?” The phrase now has some competition as one of the most useless questions when it comes to determining real world functional strength…or athletic strength as I call it.

After all, I’ve seen guys who could bench press the entire gym that couldn’t translate that to power on the field or explosiveness on the court.

Plank progression ab exerciseAND…often times wound up resembling a slighter slimmer version of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man as a result of that type of training! Well, the new phrase that doesn’t hold much meaning is…“How long can you hold a plank for?”

You see, trying to gauge core strength by having someone hold a single plank is NOT going to reveal the TRUE STRENGTH within. Not when there are so many variables that can make one plank COMPLETELY different from another (as well as the effect it has on your abs!!!)

And here’s the ***MAIN POINT*** Just as all workouts are not created equal… NEITHER ARE THE EXERCISES THAT MAKE IT UP!!

Watch this week’s video to see just how different a single plank can be depending on the slight variations that can be made and then imagine what changes you could make to your body in the next 90 days if you applied this same advantage to EVERY EXERCISE you do!!

That’s what makes ATHLEAN-X different from the other programs.

You’re not only getting a complete A to Z system for building pounds of lean muscle by training exactly like an elite level pro athlete…but you’re able to do it in record time because of the science behind the exercises that gives you an anabolic edge by making sure you get EVERYTHING out of EVERY REP!

A plank is not just a plank… just as a row is not an INVERTED ROW and a curl is not a FIELDER CURL!

Remember, if you want to look like a ripped athlete (and NOT a bloated, puffy “strongman”)…AND…be even stronger than that “strongman”, then it’s time to get “ATHLEAN”

Hope to see you on TEAM ATHLEAN in time for Monday’s first workout!!

In the meantime, have a healthy and happy holiday week!

STAY STRONG…

Jeff

PS. Before you do your next workout, be sure to see how long you can hold the last version of the plank that I show you in this week’s video! It can tell you A LOT about whether your current training is designed exactly the way it should be!
