During the winter it can be more challenging to get enough vitamins and minerals in our diets. There aren’t as many fresh fruits and vegetables in season, and it’s a time of year that we tend to eat more starchy foods like potatoes and squashes. Incorporating more green smoothies into your diet, with fresh or frozen greens, can be a great way to make sure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals you need.
These vitamins and minerals from green veggies are all the more important during this time of year because of our increased potential for illnesses like the common cold or the flu. Studies show that green vegetables enhance immunity thanks to their high levels of vitamin C, folate and antioxidants. Dark leafy greens have the added benefit of aiding in weight loss. They are an excellent source of fiber and have close to no calories, so they’ll help fill you up at meals and snacks if you make smoothies instead of juicing (juicing removes all the fiber).
Let’s have a look at 10 tasty, healthy green smoothie recipes for immunity and weight loss!
