8:30 – 9:30 // Advanced Intensity Techniques for Body Weight Training – Jeff Cavaliere

There is a direct correlation between an athletes success in the weight room and exercise intensity. For many trainees, intensity goes hand in hand with progressive overload. While progressive overload is a valuable technique, it is in fact only one of many available for ensuring intensity. Professional athletes and casual exercise enthusiasts alike are often managing chronic injury, poor recovery and other stressors that can make ‘going heavy’ a risky proposition and even less likely to produce the results desired and becomes even that much more challenging when talking about body weight training. In this discussion Coach Cavaliere will delve into the many untapped techniques that can increase the intensity of a workout without relying solely on an increase in weight.

9:30 – 10:30 // Developing The Most Important Physical Characteristic in Sports – Power! – Joe DeFranco

We all know athletes who are incredibly strong, but can’t get out of their own way and have a glaring lack of athleticism . We also know athletes who are lightning fast, yet a light breeze can blow them over. The athlete that everyone envies – the athlete that dominates – is the ones that possess the rare combination of strength and speed!  It’s time to see exactly how to develop one of the most important physical characteristic in sports – power!

10:45 – 11:45 // Loaded Mobility– The Secret of Youthful Motion– Steve Cotter

Athletes need to be strong in multiple planes of motion, not just standing in one spot. Loaded mobility is a method for improving strength and mobility simultaneously through adding external load to the body while moving.

Kettlebells are ideal to practicing loaded mobility because of the unique way that the training tool can be positioned in the hand and kept in contact with the body, aligned over the center of mass.

The foundation of loaded mobility is in proper posture and body alignment, with attention placed on footwork and positioning.  There is an added emphasis on coordinated breathing which allows the athlete to sustain their effort over a prolonged period of time. Learn how to improve this critical yet overlooked element of movement dynamics with the use of your own bodyweight and a single kettlebell.

11:45 – 12:45 // Improving the Big Lifts with Strategic Accessory Work KC Mitchell

You want to a get a bigger bench? Bench more…right? You want to get a stronger deadlift, then you have to get over the bar and start deadlifting, no?  Not so fast. Coach KC is going to show you how using properly programmed accessory work can help you progress much more significantly and quickly in the big lifts than simply racking up set after set of them by themselves.

Core training 3.0 offers more than just an overused buzzword.  It provides a scientifically based methodology that involves a functional and progressive approach to movement and performance. This lecture will discuss the movements, sequencing, activation techniques, and the dos and don’ts behind building your strongest core yet!

10:00 – 10:50 // Mastering The Squat – Alan Roberts

Referred to by many as the king of all exercises the squat is more than a powerhouse of an exercise but also a key human movement pattern. Despite it’s ubiquitous nature in everyday life many athletes continue to perform the exercise incorrectly leaving its many benefits untapped. In this discussion we will take a look at various forms of squatting, proper techniques and cues to help learn and coach the squat as well as effective variations for athletes who are unable to perform traditional squats properly or safely.

11:00 – 12:00 // The Intelligent Science of Using Body Fat for Fuel – Does Keto Give Athletes an Edge?– Dr. Cate Shanahan

The most popular diets in 2018 are going keto, the diet designed to help you burn your own body fat for fuel. While it may seem obvious that weight loss depends on burning body fat, what about athletic performance? This discussion will review the science currently available to answer the question and help both endurance-focused and intensity-focused athletes better understand the risks and benefits of experimenting with keto.
