This question is such a common one that I thought it needed a special video to address it specifically! (I actually filmed it on location in Atlanta Georgia while in the hotel gym.) WHAT IS THE BEST REP RANGE FOR BUILDING MUSCLE? This is such a misperformed element of training that I would put it as one of the #1 causes of stalled progress.
“Suns Out…Guns Out” “Curls for the Girls” Oh yes, I’ve heard some pretty cheesy things uttered by guys in gyms over the years. (btw…BOTH of these were uttered by two 40+ year olds working out in a college gym at UCONN when I was there…as they were training their biceps! Guess they were trying to motivate eachother?!?)
“How much can you bench?” The phrase now has some competition as one of the most useless questions when it comes to determining real world functional strength…or athletic strength as I call it. After all, I’ve seen guys who could bench press the entire gym that couldn’t translate that to power on the field or explosiveness on the court.
You probably thought that I would be picking Kentucky as the team to win the NCAA Championship, out of the FINAL FOUR remaining… But that would be wrong! And to be honest, I’m not even picking Ohio State, Kansas or Louisville! You see my “FINAL 4” Prediction has nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with working out.
